Israeli Ministers Urge Strikes on Beirut Suburbs Amid Ceasefire
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said Israel should respond to any perceived violations by Hezbollah with force, including drone launches from the Lebanese group.
“Dahiyeh must tremble,” he said on social media platform X, referring to Beirut’s southern districts.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to authorize strikes targeting buildings in the Dahiyeh area immediately.
“The fire toward the northern settlements is a test of the Dahiyeh equation that the Prime Minister announced,” Smotrich said on X.
Their statements came after the Israeli military reported that a drone launched from Lebanon had targeted military positions in northern Israel.
According to reports, Israeli forces have continued carrying out near-daily airstrikes in Lebanon despite a fragile ceasefire that has been in place since April 17.
