US Delays Iran Talks Delegation for Policy Meetings in Washington
The group, which includes US Vice President JD Vance, was expected to travel to Islamabad, but remained in the US capital as senior officials continued meetings at the White House.
According to reporting cited by multiple outlets, Vance stayed in Washington to take part in discussions with President Donald Trump and other senior advisers, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
A White House official said the delay was linked to “additional policy meetings” involving Vance, though no revised travel schedule was announced.
The postponement comes amid uncertainty over the next round of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Iran has not yet confirmed whether it will participate and is reportedly demanding the lifting of a US maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz as a precondition for talks.
The two sides previously held a first round of face-to-face discussions in Pakistan earlier this month, but those talks concluded without reaching an agreement.
