Gaza Bleeds: Israeli Forces Attack Kills One Palestinian, Injure Two

(MENAFN) One Palestinian was killed and two others wounded in an Israeli military strike in northern Gaza on Wednesday, medical sources told media, in the latest incident underscoring the deteriorating state of a ceasefire agreement that has nominally been in effect since Oct. 10, 2025.

According to medical sources, the fatality and two injured brothers — identified as siblings — were struck during an Israeli attack on Old Gaza Street, east of Jabalia, in the northern reaches of the enclave. The precise nature of the strike was not immediately established.

Separately, local sources reported intense artillery shelling and sustained heavy gunfire raking the eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City, with Israeli military vehicles firing from positions along the territory's perimeter. Witnesses in the south described a parallel escalation, with Israeli vehicles directing heavy fire toward areas east of Khan Younis.

The violence comes against a backdrop of what Palestinian officials describe as relentless ceasefire breaches. On April 14, Gaza's Government Media Office stated that Israel had accumulated 2,400 documented violations of the truce — encompassing killings, arrests, blockade enforcement, and what officials characterized as deliberate starvation measures.

Gaza's Health Ministry reports that the cumulative toll of those violations has reached 784 Palestinians killed and 2,214 wounded since the ceasefire took hold.

The agreement was forged following two years of war launched by Israel, with US backing, on Oct. 8, 2023 — a conflict that has since claimed more than 72,000 Palestinian lives, left over 172,000 others injured, and reduced an estimated 90% of the enclave's infrastructure to rubble.
