UK Set to Dispatch Eurofighter Jets to Poland
(MENAFN) The United Kingdom will station several Eurofighter Typhoon jets to support air patrols over Poland, Prime Minister Keir Starmer revealed on Monday.
Last month, Poland initiated its Iron Defender 25 military exercises, involving roughly 30,000 troops, including forces from various NATO allies. The Czech Republic has contributed three helicopters, while Spain, Italy, and Sweden have committed further reinforcements.
According to the UK government, British fighter jets will soon integrate with French Rafale aircraft, German Eurofighters, and Danish F-16s as part of NATO’s Eastern Sentry operations.
On September 9, Poland reported that at least 19 Russian drones breached its airspace, a claim strongly denied by Russian UN Security Council envoy Vassily Nebenzia, who labeled the accusations “unfounded.”
Prime Minister Starmer emphasized the significance of the deployment, stating, “These aircraft are not just a show of strength; they are vital in deterring aggression, securing NATO airspace, and protecting our national security and that of our allies.”
Meanwhile, Russia and Belarus are wrapping up the Zapad 2025 military drills on Tuesday, involving around 13,000 troops. Despite Western warnings framing the exercise as a potential invasion rehearsal, Moscow and Minsk dismissed these concerns as “hysteria.” US military personnel have observed the exercises firsthand.
