Dutch Air Forces concludes its humanitarian airdrop mission over Gaza
(MENAFN) The Dutch Air Force has wrapped up its humanitarian airdrop operation over the Gaza Strip, delivering more than 108 tons of food, water, and medical supplies since August 8, the Netherlands’ defense ministry announced Wednesday.
The mission, launched at Jordan’s request and coordinated from Amman, involved Dutch aircraft flying daily alongside planes from Germany, Indonesia, and other countries. Around 130 aid bundles—including flour, rice, sugar, and soup—were distributed during the operation.
“The Dutch government continues to urge Israel to allow aid convoys into Gaza by road,” the ministry said, describing road deliveries as the safest and most efficient way to meet urgent humanitarian needs in the enclave.
The airdrops came amid worsening famine conditions in Gaza, which remains under an Israeli blockade during ongoing conflict. Earlier this month, Dutch broadcaster NOS reported that the government approved the mission in response to the “catastrophic” humanitarian situation.
