China Day kicks off emphasizing growing innovation
During the event, a senior representative from Zanzibar’s Ministry of Trade and Industrial Development, Fatma Mabrouk Khamis, praised the occasion as a dynamic showcase of China’s diverse and innovative industries. She pointed to advancements ranging from clean energy solutions and modern technology to traditional arts and high-quality manufacturing.
Khamis stressed that China is not only a vital trade and investment ally for Tanzania but also a key partner in shaping a future defined by cooperation, knowledge exchange, and joint progress.
China’s ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian, shared that more than 300 Chinese businesses are currently operating in Tanzania. These companies span numerous sectors, including agriculture, tourism, services, mining, and manufacturing, and are playing a vital role in the country’s path toward industrial growth.
According to available trade data, bilateral commerce between the two nations reached 4.1 billion U.S. dollars in the first five months of the year.
Cathy Wang, director general of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center Limited—the main sponsor of the trade fair—revealed that about 200 Chinese exhibitors are taking part in the event. Many of these companies, she said, have already invested in Tanzania’s developing industrial sector.
"The strength of 'Made in China' is fueling Tanzania's industrial transformation," Wang stated.
