Fidan Warns of Impact from Israel's Gaza Offensive
(MENAFN) The Turkish Foreign Minister has cautioned that the ongoing conflict in Gaza, led by Israel, has undone years of progress across the region and may lead to widespread international ramifications if left unchecked.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, Hakan Fidan emphasized the urgency of addressing Israel’s military actions during his address at the 17th BRICS leaders' summit in Rio de Janeiro, an event hosted by Brazil.
“If Israel’s aggression and expansionism are not brought under control, the consequences will be felt globally,” stated Fidan on Sunday.
His remarks came during a session titled “Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence,” where he highlighted the far-reaching implications of the conflict on international order and cooperation.
Fidan pointed out that Israel's conduct has created a crisis for global organizations tasked with preserving peace and stability.
“The tragedy of the Palestinian people is now at the center of our discussions on multilateralism,” he remarked, describing the situation as a major challenge to the credibility of institutions that oversee international security.
Türkiye, Fidan continued, is actively working to promote a diplomatic resolution and ease the tension in the region.
He affirmed his country’s willingness to contribute to sustainable peace efforts.
He also addressed how globalization has intensified interdependence among nations, particularly in areas such as energy and essential minerals.
This interconnectedness, he noted, has made global supply chains more vulnerable, underscoring the importance of inclusive growth, job creation, and the continuation of free trade as pathways to sustainable development.
